What we keep, and what we don't.

• No accounts, no email addresses. There is nothing to sign up for.
• Team Maker: the roster you paste is used to make one set of teams and is not saved.
• Clipboard: we store the rooms you make (room name, criteria, tryout numbers, optional short labels and roles, scores, team sets) and a salted hash of the Clipboard key. The key itself lives only in your link and in a browser cookie (HttpOnly, secure).
• Players are numbers. Labels are limited to 16 characters, and anything that looks like an email address, a phone number or a street address is refused.
• Rate limits use a salted hash of your network address, kept for two days. The app's own error logs are kept 30 days; the web server keeps standard access logs (address, time, page) under the host's normal rotation.
• No tracking cookies, no analytics services, no third-party fonts. Every file is served from this site, except the one banner ad from adengine.us on the public pages, described under Advertising; it also counts one page view per page as a daily total.
• Cookies: two cookies, both needed for the site to work: one for the Clipboard key (only once you start or open a Clipboard) and one security (CSRF) cookie for forms. None track you across sites.
• Deleting: delete a room or the whole Clipboard from the Clipboard page; it is gone from the database at once. Copies can remain for a while in backups: the nightly database backups roll off after 14 days; the database copies taken before and after each software update, and the hosting server's own account backups, have no fixed expiry and are used only to repair the site. Clipboards unused for 400 days are deleted automatically.

Advertising

The public pages of Even Sides (home, pricing, the method, about and the Team Maker before you make teams) show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC's own services. Pages that show a roster, scores or teams (Team Maker results, the Clipboard, rooms, score sheets and team sets), this page and the terms show no ad.

To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your network address (IP address), your browser type and the address of this site with those requests. It does not receive the address of the page you are on.

• No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
• How your network address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC's own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
• What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (network address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
• Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser's site, which has its own privacy policy.
• Nothing about you is sold or shared.
